Status report:

Life is really, really good right now. Just when I was starting to feel a bit pissed off and jaded about this whole brain cancer "thing" I rebounded over the past week to being optimistic and happy with life.

Seriously, I am seeing things in a new light. Maybe the "I am just lucky to be alive" bug got to me.

Whatever it is, I welcome the change.

Or maybe my body is finally on-board with my new anti-epileptic medication regime and is responding by telling my brain to be happy.

Liz Salmi is Communications & Patient Initiatives Director for OpenNotes at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. Over the last 15 years Liz has been: a research subject; an advisor in patient stakeholder groups; a leader in “patient engagement” research initiatives; and an innovator, educator and investigator in national educational and research projects. Today her work focuses on involving patients and care partners in the co-design of research and research dissemination. It is rumored Liz was the drummer in a punk rock band.
