We're all made up of the same stuff

We're all made up of the same stuff:

Nerves and impulses
At the most basic level.
Underneath every conscious thought
We're nothing more than instinct:
Pure fear, hunger, anger--
Emotional survival.
But then we have more things to
Keep us occupied in our minds
Because we can make connections and draw conclusions
And we experience so much more.
But everything we process is caused
By a physical connection--a reaction,
A neural, electrical charge
Making sense for you and me.
